Control of Azolla Fern

This project was funded over two years to enable the purchase of weevils specially bred for the control of this invasive Azolla fern which can quickly colonise a pond choking out other vegetation and wildlife species.  It can be conveyed between ponds on the feet of birds and other travelling wildlife.

The two ponds known as Llwyni and Rawlings are included in the Deeside and Buckley Newt Sites Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
