This project focused on improving both terrestrial and breeding habitats for great crested news, with works funded by Building Wildlife.
Willow re-generation was cut back to preserve vital grassland for newt foraging and also to preserve flora. Breeding ponds underwent a de-silt and re-profile to reinstate ponds to a more productive pond for newt breeding. These works will aid in preserving and increasing great crested newt and the wider amphibian assemblage population within the area.
These are images showing the Buckley Lower Common pond before, during and after the work had been completed. (You can pause the images by placing your mouse icon over the image)
