Habitat improvements for Great Crested Newts – Lower Common, Buckley

This project focused on improving both terrestrial and breeding habitats for great crested news, with works funded by Building Wildlife.

Willow re-generation was cut back to preserve vital grassland for newt foraging and also to preserve flora.  Breeding ponds underwent a de-silt and re-profile to reinstate ponds to a more productive pond for newt breeding. These works will aid in preserving and increasing great crested newt and the wider amphibian assemblage population within the area.
